Gabriel Ribeiro was born in 1990 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He currently lives and works between Lisbon and Rio de Janeiro. Ribeiro earned a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Art Practice from the Chelsea School of Arts and Design in London and a Master’s degree in Sculpture from the Faculty of Fine Arts in Lisbon. In 2024, he received a PhD scholarship from the FCT – Foundation for Science and Technology, where he conducts research with support from the European Fund and the Portuguese Republic. His work has been exhibited at institutions such as the Centro Cultural dos Correios (BR), Espronceda Institute of Arts and Culture (ES), Galeria Av. da Índia – Lisbon Municipal Galleries (PT), and Torreão Nascente da Cordoaria Nacional (PT). He has been appointed artist-in-residence/fellow at several international art institutions, including the Espronceda Institute for Arts and Culture (Barcelona, ​​ES), Schiesslhaus supported by KulturFonds Bayern (Kollnburg, DE), GlogauAIR (Berlin, DE), CO-RESIDENCY (Online/Singapore), Residency 108 (New York, USA), and was a fellow at the Vermont Studio Center (Vermont, USA). He received the Espronceda Institute Award at the SWAB Art Fair in 2022 (Barcelona, ​​ES), the Artist Prize ArtConnect (2022), and the Millennium Foundation Young Art Award in 2021 (Lisbon, PT).
