“Returning to the world its sensorial power, its sparkles and textures, its abysses, mysteries and small miracles, “Plethora” deterritorializes, evokes, seduces (what is an oriental hat doing there? in what gestures does it unfold? what era and country belongs?) Without denying either anguish or the liminal and feral properties of reality (is it a woman or a peasant, an ancestral figure? Is it a friendly canis vulgaris or the red fur of a fox?), these paintings take up a first impulse of the creative act, which is all the more daring and intelligent the more our time has become armed with cynicism and second degrees. What we see here is the disturbing and celebratory abundance of painting, the multiplicity of its gestures and rituals, the everyday. enigma that gives rise to it. Joy, therefore. The insistence on the joy and praise of what one loves — the companion, the dog, a simple Sunday walk —, in the suspicion that all this can only remain, be saved, if the gaze that contemplates transports and retains you on another plane, in another dimension. A little more light, an excess of light and sap, this painting seems to ask of us. A little more time beyond mere human time, that is, almost eternity.”
