Manuel Vieira (Lisbon, 1962)

Visual artist, performer, and musician. Born in Lisbon in 1962, he completed an illustration course at the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation with painter Maria Keil and an art training course at the SNBA in 1982. He graduated in Painting from the FBAUL in 1988. He lives and works in Lisbon. He co-founded the Homeostético Movement, with Pedro Portugal, Pedro Proença, Fernando Brito, Xana, and Ivo in 1983, the Ases da Paleta group in 1989, the O Candidato Vieira project in 2001, the Orgasmo Carlos collective since 2002, and the Arthomem group since 2018. His works are in the collections of Elídio Pinho, Serralves Museum, MATT, FLAD, Gulbenkian, and EDP. He is also curator of the João Vieira House-Museum in Vidago.
