      Biography

      Valter Ventura (Lisbon, 1979)

      Valter Ventura graduated in Art History from the Faculty of Arts of the University of Lisbon.
      In 2005, as a scholarship holder from Banco Espírito Santo, he completed the Advanced Photography Course at Ar.Co – Center for Art and Visual Communication.
      He is a specialist professor in the Higher Photography Course at the Polytechnic Institute of Tomar, also collaborating with Ar.Co. and the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Lisbon.
      In 2008, he participated (in pairs with José Nuno Lamas) in the Photography Course of the 2nd Creativity and Artistic Creation Program of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation.
      Between 2012 and 2014 he was responsible for photographic documentation at Carpe Diem – Arte e Pesquisa.
      Between 2016 and 2018 he was a resident artist at HANGAR – Centro de Investigação Artística.
      Together with Duarte Amaral Netto, João Paulo Serafim and Rodrigo Tavarela Peixoto, he founded the photography collective HÉLICE and the magazine PROPELLER (coordinated by Sofia Silva).
